Although Birstall won this game comfortably they were full of aplause for Methley for turning up.The game kicked of with Twelve aside because a car had got lost from Methley.This Cup game had been held up to allow Birstall to play in the National Cup.Birstall soon had this game won when they shot into a 28-6 half time lead with two tries from Johnny Stainburn and one apiece from Ben Copley Garth
Scott and Richard Ramsden Mick Dyson converted four out of the five tries. Methley's only points
came from a try and a goal by Matthew Carriss'Wright Second half was all Birstall who again ran in
a unanswered 28 points with further tries from Stainburn scoring his hat trick Copley and Scott
getting their seconds.Craig Stevens got one as did the Dyson brothers of Dave and Mick with Mick kicking two goals to compleat the scoring
at 56-6. Mark Lockwood could not say enough good about Methley for
the way they played and the spirit the game was played in and thanked them all for turning up.
