Middleton move into the semi finals of the Fred Marshall Senior Cup, but had to work hard to defeat a
twelve men Dewsbury Moor who battled all the way, and indeed won the second half 10-7.Paul
Burnley got Middleton on the way with a well taken try after 8 minutes when he scored under the
post, Lee law converted 6-0. Twenty minutes went by befor Mark Short scored again for Middleton
with a try out wide kick missed leaving the score at 10-0.Dewsbury then had their best spell of the
first half and at the end came away with six points when Phil Simpson scored at the side of the sticks for Gaz Hull to convert 10-6.On the stroke of half time Paul Burnley went in for his second try and Lee Law converted to bring the half to an end at 16-6 to Middleton.Second half got under way with
Dwsbury starting the better with Gaz Hull nipping in under the post's and converting his own try
16-12. Middleton then scored their last try when Liam Thornton scored a good try for Law to goal
and make the score 22-12. Back came Moor with Luck Owen scoring a good try in which the
conversion was just missed to leave a exciting finish with the score at 22-16. Time was ticking away when Tom Burnell popped over a drop goal to give Middleton a vital seven points lead at 23-16.That
was the final score, but Dewsbury will be wondering what would have happened if they had had a full squad of seventeen players.
Queens 24 v 6 Hunslet W
The game was two minutes old when Omar Alrawi scored for Queens conversion was missed, but this showed which way the top match was going to go 4-0.On 6 minutes Johnny Milner kicked a penalty goal to make the score 6-0. Another penalty for Queens on 12 minuts made the score 8-0 when Milner kicked the goal. With minutes to go in the first half Milner dropped a goal to make the half
time score 9-0 A try oiut wide from James Brown got the second half on its way goal missed 13-0 to Queens. Next on the score sheet was Mathew Stockdale with a try in the corner goal missed 17-0. Warriors then had their best spell and at the end scored a good try on 64 minutes from Carl Featherstone who darted under the sticks Gary McClelland converted to make the score 17-6.Milner dropped another goal on 76 minute to take the score to18-6. Two minutes were left on the clock when Simon Cook scored at the side of the post's for Queens and Milner compleated the scoring when he converted the try final score 24-6 to Queens.
