Queens 17 v 7 Leigh East
This day belonged to Queens who now can boast to be the best Team in the Amateur Rugby League
by beating Conferance Premier Team Champions and Grand Final winners Leigh East 17-7 at Fylde Rugby Club Lytham St Anne's near Blackpool. East where favourites, but Queens where ready for them and on the day where worthy winners.People were waiting for the game to explode as Queens come with a reputation after the Doncaster game in which they were wrongly expelled for three years as Doncaster have not received any punnishment. Indeed the next round saw Hull v Leeds were people where fighting and nothing happend at that game, nobody thrown out.Must be one law for the pro's and kick the Amateur clubs out.Back to the better game of true Rugby. First half had both sides defending with all there worth, and indeed it wasn't till th 30 minute that the first score came and it went to Leigh East when Danny Kilshaw scored and he converted his own try 0-6 which became the half time score. Second half was as tight as the first and both teams
were tackling like demonds, but this time Queens scored a good try from centre Steve Morton in the corner kick missed 4-6.On sixty two minutes Adam Holland dropped a goal for Leigh to take the score to 7-4.
With ten minutes left in the game Queens stepped up their attack and some what surprised the Leigh East side who may have thought they were tired to their loss,as winger number 2 Ryan Walker scored at the side of the post for Jonathan Milner to convert and put Queens in front
for the first time at 7-10.Queens went further ahead when stand off
Milner dropped a goal on 75 minutes to make the score 7-11 Queens.
Two minutes where remaining with Leigh on the attack and going all out for the try only to make a grave and game over mistake with a pass that went straight to number 5 winger Simon Cook for Queens who went all of 60 metres to score under the sticks up stepped Milner to convert and end the game at 7-17 Queens. This makes Queens one of the few teams to win the Barla National Cup at both Youth and Open Age.Also
lets hope that their display today will help them play at the level they should be at Conferance and at Premier Level. Just to say not one penalty was given today for any foul play by either side. Well done Queens from Yorkshire League Management.
